why is it that most all of the answers given were shows off cartoon network?
I mean seriously, have you people never bought an anime dvd from a comic book store? COME ON!!! And for the record, Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, American Dad and so on so forth ARE NOT ANIME! They were created in the US, in a 3D software program such as Maya. That's right, 3D. It's rendered out in 2D. If you want some NEW shows, since obviously all you've seen is the massly overpopularized shit cartoon network has then go to zomganime.com theres a huge list of anime series and movies. Just start from the top and go to the bottem

- couldn't agree more. it seems that there are two classes of individuals on here that answer anime: 1. the cartoon network "otaku"posers. they usually do not know any anime that goes beyond dragonball z, ninja scroll, naruto, bleach, or anything else that has been on cartoon network. w/ most of these animes, there isn't anything wrong with them, but the cartoon network version (which features **groan** english dubs and is highly censored, although sci fi channel tends to censor less, strangely enough) is not the same as the original. in the case of DBZ, the dub version is basically a whole different show that is essentially unwatchable. 2. real otaku that have seen many different anime, and truly have love for the art form. personally, i hate dubs for the most part (there are some exceptions, such as GTO, ranma 1/2, or tenchi universe) because they never seem to do a good job of "acting" out the parts as they do in the original forms. you can usually tell real otaku by the animes that they have seen. anyone that counts south park (i hate that freakin show...so overrated) or family guy (that show is funny as hell though) as anime is a moron.
- I assume because most are teenagers who grew up watching them and call shows like Evangelion "old school" because it's from the 90s. They will never know the trials and tribulations of getting their hands on an nth gen copy on VHS or paying an arm and a leg for a 45 minute VHS tape.
