3D - 2

I need a good 3D Modeling Software?

I need to obtain a 3D modeling software to use for work. I've used AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ProE and more, but I need something a bit cheaper (Less than $500 preferably). If you have any suggestions of something that has comparable capabilities as the other programs and can be used for professional use, please tell me. Thanks

  1. Powerful 3D modeling software for 3D animation, 3D graphic, animations, rendering, NURBS, web design, games design. http://www.caligari.com/ Cathy
  2. I feel VariCAD would fit the bill here (no pun intended): http://www.varicad.com/en/home/ At $690, it is a bit over your budget, but a comparable product to the ones you mentioned. They have a trial available, so check it out. I do not think anything else comes close feature-wise versus cost. It is easy to pick up and learn. Reviews are very favourable. BTW you can save money and buy the Linux version - which means you do not have to spend any money on Windows. ;-) Both Alibre and Rhino may be an answer, though they do sell at $998 right now. Rhino is more of a Nurbs modeller. http://www.alibre.com/products/ http://www.rhino3d.com/ You might want to try the free express version of alibre, though at the expense of features: http://www.freewarefiles.com/Alibre-Design-Xpress_program_15117.html
