Is there a 3D modeling program like 3DS Max but easier?

I have many different games that I have some great ideas for, but as a beginner, I just can't stand all the buttons and whatnot on 3DS Max. I want something that can make a 3D model just as well as Max, but is easier to use and understand. I want to use Max eventually, but I just want something that might help me understand better and move a little faster. Anyone know of one?

There Bryce, which is really easy to use, but also very limited (to mostly landscapes) Bryce 5.5 is available for free at: http://download.cnet.com/Bryce/3000-6677_4-10696716.html There's LightWave 3D, which is considered a bit easier than 3ds max. There's also Cinema4D which some consider easier (they declare themselves "The Easiest to Use 3D Application", but that's their word).
2. Daz3D has some some 3D modeling software that is fairy easy to use. They have a program called Hexagon that makes 3D models from scratch. You can try Blender too. Both of these programs are fairly easy to use especially when compared to 3DS Max. Poser 8 allows you to make 3D models as well, but maybe not to the extent that you are trying to get to.
