For anyone who has used 3D Studio Max?
I'm trying to make a short animation with Rollie Pollie Ollie, but I don't know what the best way to do the mouth would be. I can do 3d mouths but this is more a 2d mouth on a 3d character. Any suggestions or especially links to helpful tutorials would be greatly appreciated. I have tried using a plane. It's really hard to keep it conformed to Ollie's head, since it's round, while animating it. I'm hoping there's an easier way.

- Maybe use a plane and shape it into the mouth? I hope you know where planes are cause im not on my comp with 3ds max so I can't tell you exactly
- What you can do, is project an image of the mouth onto the object using a uv modifier. This will give you control of scale, rotate, move, etc of the image that's on your Rollie Pollie Ollie and you can animate it like that.... Otherwise, you could also animate the mouth in a seperate 2D program like Flash, and export the movie image and project THAT onto the area where the mouth will be. There are many other options to do this, such as using a wrap modifier on a plane object that you will link to seperate morph objects to control the facial movement, or even using booleans and animating the operands where the mouth would be (although that would not be the 2D look you're looking for.... There are always many ways to do things... it's which way looks best for what you're trying to do. I can help you work on this, I teach 3D Studio Max and Maya online on a 1 on 1 basis.
