Will you or did you opt to have a 4D ultrasound?
I really want to be surprised the first time I see my new baby and honestly...they kinda freak me out, lol. Everyone I know that has gotten one their baby looks the EXACT same..and I hear a lot of women saying that it isn't really accurate to tell looks, but I think it is. I will not be getting a 4d ultrasound, what about you guys?

- I had one because of complications to my pregnancy it was very cool to have a look at my wee one. You just get a better sense of size etc... my little girl was still a big surprise to me with regards to looks :-)
- yep i got one with my first, and i'm gettin one this time. the bond that you get from that is just amazing. i dont do it to see what they're gonna look like. i do it because for 30 minutes, i get to just sit and look at my baby. no doctors telling me there could be this wrong or that, no measurements, its just me and my baby. and its magical. just to watch them move around, and see what they're doing, see how much they're growing, its incrediable and something i will absolutely cherish for the rest of my life.
- Yeah!! I want to get it done so I can get a little movie and extra pictures and see baby again! If they're going to be with me 24/7 and kicking mommie around...well I feel like I can get a peek. lol. I think it would be really fun to bring home a video for DH and share in more moments with baby. So excited! Good luck!
- We didn't opt to have one with either of ours, but when I had a late ultrasound with my second child (the doc couldn't feel where her head was), the tech switched over to 4d for a minute. We didn't get charged extra for it, though, since the tech did it all of her own choosing. To be honest, it was weird, and didn't look anything like our baby. Perhaps it was because I was 34 weeks, and they recommend having them done at about 24 weeks. The image was distorted-looking, and kind of alien-like. I won't be having another one. Ever.
- I had a 4D ultrasound with both of my pregnancies. I thought it was a wonderful experience and a chance to see what babies do inside the womb. I got a high resolution picture CD and a DVD of the entire sitting, which included about 60 pictures and 20 minutes of video. It was AWESOME!
- i wana do one =)
- I had them with my last pregnancy. But then again it wasn't really a choice I made. I was high risk. I had lots of ultrasounds and at the end of each of the 2D scans he would do a little 3D and 4D. And I think you are right. If you have the scan late enough (after 24 weeks) then the picture will look very much like when your baby is born. I know with my scans it did. But I rather liked that. I liked knowing what she would look like before she was born. But I guess some people like the surprise, so that is fine too.
- I did, and I am a first time mom, I have to say it really bonded me with her! Watching her smile and suck her thumb, I loved every minute of it and wouldn't take it back ! Blessings your way and congrats!
- I didn't have an option whether or not to have a 4D, they gave it to me automatically.
- Maybe I will get one if my doctor wouldn't let me have another ultrasound. I didn't find out the gender at 21 weeks because baby legs were crossing. I've seen one of my friend 4d ultrasound pics and I think is pretty cool. :)
- Good choice. Honestly... My in laws wanted me to get one when i was pregnant (it was their first grandchild and they were soo excited) but i ended up not getting it. Thank goodness. Because i found an article about how ultra sounds can actually effect the fetus, which is why doctors are not always trying to do one, even though i remember always wanting to see my baby lol. Im going to look for a link on it. Here we go... This was kind of interesting.. http://www.unhinderedliving.com/pultra.html http://www.everyday-wisdom.com/dangers-of-ultrasound.html https://www.asrt.org/content/News/IndustryNewsBriefs/Sono/studyshows062408.aspx Man im learning more as well lol. Im going to be doing things so much different when and IF I have another baby.
