3D - 2

AVATAR in theatres: What's the difference between watching a movie in IMAX 3D or Digital 3D?

If you've seen it both ways, did you notice a difference? is there one you'd recommend over the other? I'm aware Digital 3D is supposedly the 'superior' technology, but I've also read that the difference isn't really noticeable and the IMAX 3D makes the experience feel more epic. What's your take on this?

  1. imax is where there is a huge screen that surrounds the theater. pretty amazing. or atleast i think thats what it is. ive been to one and it was like that so yea i think so.
  2. One is more magical than the other...DUH!
  3. IMAX is a bigger screen. However, they are both awesome. And Avatar is the bestt movie ever
  4. in imax the images are right at your face, in 3d they are closer to the screen, but still fantastic. that movie is so trippy! i saw it last night in 3d, it was bomb. if you see it in regular 3d or imax, you will still enjoy it, have fun!
  5. yeah IMAX is on a GIANT (like several stories high) screen! the otherone would prob be the same quality but on a regular sized screen...
  6. IMAX 3D is the best version to watch it superior image and sound quality Thats the only way to see this movie i am going to watch it today
  7. I think the Digital 3D uses the same screen as other movies. The IMAX 3D uses a much larger screen (probably larger than a drive in screen indoors). The IMAX theater I have been to is about three times the size of a regular theater, making you feel like you are in the middle of the film moreso than regular 3D.
  8. You can watch it in 1080p HD quality for free here: http://dr2.biz/movie3883 Cheers!
  9. Avatar in IMAX 3-D is really an experience...Absolutely increadible. It had my heart racing till the ending credits. The screen(depending on where you go)Can be up to seven stories tall. It fills your line of sight making you truely feel like your in the movie & with the added effect of the 3-D...Breathtaking! I recommend IMAX 3-D definitely..Everything seems larger than life, altough im sure its fine in digital 3-D, but not as "epic" like you said.
  10. You can watch it in 1080p HD quality for free here: http://so-smart.be/~movie3 Cheers!
