I just bought a usb 2.0 5.1 channel 3d surround sound card.?

I want to know my dell latitude d520 laptop has sigmatel high definition audio and i got an external usb 2.0 5.1 channel 3 surround card and i want to know how am i going to feel the power between my laptop speakers and that 5.1 channel 3d surround card powered by usb port. Is there going to be any sort of difference between my laptop sound card quality and the external usb 2.0 5.1 channel 3d surround card. Please explain this to me as i am confused and thinks that there is no such difference and the sound quality is same as my laptop 's sound card. Please help! I actually bought the usb 2.0 5.1 channel 3d surround card for 95p. Please Help!

1. Sounds to me like you wasted your money! Your pc already has 5,1 dolby. All you need do is plug a set of surround speakers in. I doubt you will even be able to tell a difference on a set of pc speakers.
2. At 95p I don't think you have wasted your money, rather learnt a valuable lesson! These devices do not work!! to start with 5.1 means you would\should have SIX SPEAKERS! Buy a mid priced set, maybe go to a computer shop to hear them, notice you get 3 speakers, one is a sub-woofer, will enhance your sound tremendously. Just don't buy the cheapest cr*p you see! Ps IF your dell has outputs for 6 channel same as above but a 5.1 set Pps 'blamey' the poster does not have a 'pc' but a laptop and dolby is a decoder, NOT a peice of hardware!
