What is so special about blu-ray DVD's? Do they show movies in 3D, like Avatar?
When Avatar comes out on DVD, will it be in 3D? Can you watch 3D movies with a regular DVD player? If not, do you need a special player for a blu-ray disc so you can see a movie in 3D?

- you can but dvds in 3d for normal dvd players, blu-ray is in hi-deffinition and looks and and sounds better they show movies in 3d also
- A blu-ray player is simply the device used to play blu-ray discs. A blu-ray disc is a fancy way of saying High Definition. It does not in any way mean 3D. There are ways of watching movies in 3D. Also you need a High Definition TV to take advantage of Blu-Ray discs.
- the difference between blu ray and conventional dvds are the data capacity. normal dvds typically are 4.7 GB while blu ray have 25 or 50GB capacity. with all that extra space they can add more features to the dvd, interactive/web, behind the scenes.. all this extra stuff you couldnt find on a normal dvd
