3D - 2

I am planning on making the jump to 3D but which display should I get?

Okay after reading articles about the PS3 most likely getting an update in 2010 allowing it to play games in 3D, I am having trouble finding 3D LCD TV's. My first thou was I was going to get a 3D Ready gaming monitor either the Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 3D or the Viewsonic VX2265wm. But now after watching a review I realized they don't have HDMI inputs on them they only have DVI-D. So I looked around and I found HDMI to DVI-D cables but I wonder if they would acutally work and since the whole 3D scene is new there is not much info out there on this kinda of stuff. Does anyone know if that would effect it or anything, and also does anyone know a place that has 3D LCD tv's listed for buying? To the people below those aren't answers to my question >.< I've played games in 3D on PC and they are amazing. It adds to the experience and makes it more immersive. Also the firmware update they have planned will make ALL PS3 work in 3D thou developers in the future are acutally planning on programing with 3D in mind. I've played games like F.E.A.R 2 in 3D (not programmed with 3D in mind) and its still amazing ashes float by your face when your hud starts up at the beginning of the game its like putting on a helmet, your iron sites come out of your screen like your looking down the gun and with the game being of the horror genre things get up in your face all the time but in 3D its up out and almost touching your face. Far more scary. I would like as someone to acutally read my question and answer it for me instead giving negative useless feedback. Those are not answers. I want to know where you can purchase 3D TV's and if HDMI to DVI-D convtered would effect the picture in any way.

  1. Dude, not a very smart investment..... 3-D movies is the most your gonna get out of that. Think to yourself, would you honestly sit for more that a few hours with 3D glasses on and stuff poppping out at you? Not very many people would want that. Few, if any, developers are gonna be making a jump to 3d too. Ya you can buy it if you feel you really want too, but its a risky investment, I for one feel a dead end too.
  2. couldn't agree more with Link, while yes it sounds awesome to play in 3D it WILL get tiring if you have to wear glasses and have everything constantly pop out at you, but the real reason is because dont expect any quality games to have that. most developer are certainly not ready to invest in that and if there would be games with that capability, they would be crappy. if you really want this i suggest you wait until the future when this becomes more common and more things can be done with it
