When you see a 3d movie in theaters, do you have to buy the 3d glasses?
If so, approximately how much extra are the glasses? What are the glasses like? I've bought a few 3d movies on 3d and the glasses are cheap cardboard. I just want more information before I go. Thanks!

- I wouldnt doubt they come with the movie
- basically. the movies costs more money when you see it in 3d i believe they up the price about three or four dollars.
- nope. The are plastic, and it is not colored, they look like looking through your regular glasses.
- Most 3d theaters supply the glasses themselves, go to an imax one if you have one within reasonable distance. You can buy your own via amazon and other sites but there are a number of 3d format so that means you can end up buying at least three different pairs.
- Usually you pay about an extra $2 (added on the price of the ticket) Because the movie is more expensive to release in 3D..so even if you brought your own 3D glasses you still have to pay the extra money..the glasses i have seen are plastic (almost look like big nerd glasses lol) :)
- Glasses don't cost anything (other than the few extra dollars added to the ticket price). There's two suggestions however: 1. If you want to get the full experience, it's advisable to get your own glasses beforehand. That's mainly because the glasses provided by cinemas tend to be rather uncomfortable (remember, you'll be wearing them for an hour and a half!) and also some cinemas provide glasses that aren't exactly the best quality. 2. Remember that, even though you might be tempted, there's no point in taking the glasses with you after the movie. Leaving the fact that it's usually not allowed aside, there's little to do with those glasses at home as most 3D videos published online are using the red/cyan colour code and to watch those you need different glasses (which you can easily build yourself). Hope this helps. Bryan
- From what I have read in several news articles over the last several years the extra 2 or 3 dollars that theaters charge for a 3d movie does not go for the glasses. It goes for the added cost of making the movie in 3d and the added cost to put in the expensive 3d projector and special screen. In fact there was an article that some theaters were upset because they thought the studios should pay for the glasses not them. So the individual theaters are having to put up the money for the glasses. I asked our local theater if we could take the glasses after the show and they said no because they had to pay for them. They want to get as much use out of them as possible and not have to keep buying glasses.
