Changing the reference points of a 3d model (3DS Max)?

I'm not sure if "reference point" is the correct term, but I'm programming my first 3d game, and I want the 3d model's point of reference to be in the top left corner of the model rather than the center of the model. In other words, I want it set up so that if I place the 3d model in my game world at (0,0,0), the upper left portion is at that point, rather than the center. How can I achieve this inside 3ds Max? I tried simply moving the 3d model to the correct position on the axes in 3ds Max, but the exported model still used the dead center of the model as the point of reference. I'm very new to 3d modeling software, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't think those instructions apply to the version I am working in, which is 3ds Max 2010.

  1. In the hierarchy (3rd) tab of the right pane, click "affect pivot only", and position it wherever you like. You can also use the align tool to align it to the maximum/minimum of each dimension.
