What packages do I need to make 3D games in Linux?

I've been interested in making my own games, but I don't know what packages or libraries I need.

1. Linux uses OpenGL and Linux runs 3D graphic intensive games much better than Windows does the only problem is not to many games are written specifically for Linux. There are a lot of great ports but it will really require the game designers to get a clue and start writing for Linux as more and more people are moving to Linux now. Start a petition. The Linux community is growing daily and I see numerous inquiries every day from people asking how to move to Linux as ever more people are getting fed up with Microsoft and Vista.
