can i save 3d studio max 2009 work in 3Dmax 2008 format?

Hey im doin a project in max 2009, but i need to submit my work in 2008 format, is there any way to convert to v8?

1. Hi i just tried a simple boxes and spheres thing in max 09 , savesd is .max and it wouldnt open in max 08, so no backward compatability there. BUT I exported the 09 project as a .3ds file and imported it into 08 and all the boxes and spheres were and the textures I applied. So export as .3ds and it should be ok, but try it first mate.
