My computer won't play any sound!?

I have a Sony Vaio VGC-RA826G(UC) and im running windows 7. My sound was working fine, till about a month ago it suddenly went out. My computer says their is no sound problem and my sound botton on the right of the screen if active while playing any sound. I initially tried system restore, no luck. I then tried updating my sound driver, it was "already up to date". I tried uninstalling " Microsoft High Difinition Audio Device" and reinstalling, nothing. I then tried changing sound drivers. I downloaded and installed "Realtek High Difinition Audio Driver", still no luck. Im pretty mad by now so i tried checking out the obious, cable connection, playback devices, volume control... but nothing had any effect. So now im online looking for some leads, I ran into a website that suggested updating my bios? I went to sony's support site and they have a XP bios update, tried installing it but it says it cant install becuase it decects im not running XP! I also ran into a website that suggested enabling or disabling the onboard sound in bios, but i couldnt find such thing it my bios. I have ran out of leads and ideas, i hope someone can inlighed my life and help me out! I ran a Belarc Advisor, these are some of the results: Operating System System Model Windows 7 Ultimate (build 7600) Install Language: English (United States) System Locale: English (United States) Sony Corporation VGC-RA826G(UC) System Serial Number: 28478630-3006364 Asset Tag: P146000004001F72B9339B327D6F Chassis Serial Number: R4663885 Enclosure Type: Desktop Processor a Main Circuit Board b 3.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 16 kilobyte primary memory cache 1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache Hyper-threaded (2 total) Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. 1. Check if it's muted or Put your wave on Full Volume. Or go to Realtek and go to the middle green one and it should it be on either Line In or Line Out.
  2. i'd suggest plugging in some speakers and see if they work, maybe soundcard is ok but speakers are goosed.
