Are the 3D glasses nVIDIA is selling simply a more expensive version of the disposable ones?

I have a few pairs of 3D glasses from when I saw Avatar. Would they work with a 3D computer monitor?

1. Nope. They are COMPLETELY different. The nVidia 3DVision glasses are shutter glasses. They alternate shutting the left and right eyepieces 60 times a second. This is synchronized to a 120Hz display that alternates between displaying a right-side-view and a left-side-view 120 times a second, so that the left eye sees only the left-side-view and the right eye sees only the right-side-view to give the illusion of 3D. The movie theater glasses are just simple color filters that filter out the color image meant for one eye but not the other (the left-side-view is filmed in one color while the right-side-view is filmed in another color). It will NOT work with filtering alternating frames like the nVidia 3DVision.
