- II happen to like Philips myself, but I have friends who don't really like Philips products.I have a Philips Magnavox 56'' Rear projection That I have had for quite a while now and I still like my set better then a lot of newer sets out there. But that is just my opinion. It sounds like a good deal as long as the price is right. Have you seen it or have you bought it already? How is the picture quality and the sound quality / If you like it and you are satisfied with the price Go for it . And enjoy it George
- Of the long time "name brands," Philips and Magnavox (same mfg.) are just about bottom of the list - way too many consumer complaints! But I'd rather have a Philips than a Vizio, Insignia, Element, Polaroid, or one of the other cheap, third tier, junk TVs that have come on the scene in the last couple of years. At least you have a chance of getting parts for a Philips/Magnavox when repairs are necessary. For a 32" LCD, the two top dogs in performance and reliability are Panasonic and Sony. It's pretty much a tie. Get the one with the best price/warranty combo. Or, if these two are too pricey, look at the Toshiba, or even the Sharp 720p. Good hunting!
- Philips is okay. They have a good reputation, but you might look at comparable sets by other makers. I'm a big fan of Toshiba, for example, and for a couple hundred more would wager that the Toshiba REGZA 32HL67U 32-inch 720p LCD HDTV for about $950 would delight you. Toshiba makes a 37" model (REGZA 37HL67) which is worth a look, at least on Amazon. Samsung has a big selection between $500 and $1000. Whatever you do, take the time to find and read user reviews!
