Is it okay to take my 8 months old to the 3d Imax movie? I mean he wont be able to wear the special glasses..?

Would that be bad for his eyesight?? to view the 3D movie on the big screen? without those weird spectacles? And please no smart answers...:) PS. I have taken my baby to the cinema quite a few times and he enjoys watching the movie...heheheee but this time I am just not sure...as its 3D Imax :( plz answer and help me out! Thanks :) Thanks Courage :) I know, I have asked my doc about it and he said...if he is good and not getting fussy then its probably okay to take him to the cinema...:S but I didnt know about the long term damage...thanks a bunch for ur answer :)

  1. I'd be far more concerned with the level of the sound in the movies... if you can't comfortably talk over it, it's too loud and can do long-term damage to their ears. Have you taken the glasses off while watching a 3D movie like that? Usually it's just a bit blurry. Since most things to an 8 month old are a bit blurry, I don't think it would matter.
  2. 3d movies can't hurt your eyes with or without the glasses. They use polarized light in a 3d movie and you encounter polarized light waves everyday when outside. If polarized light were bad for our eyes we would all be blind. In fact they have polarized sunglasses to block the glare of horizontal light waves off the top of a car or the surface of a pond.
  3. Tony R is right, the polarising glasses won't hurt his eyes at all, whether he would keep them on to watch it properly is another thing, he won't enjoy the double images he sees on the screen without them and that's for cert. If you don't think he'll wear the glasses I'd leave him at home , or you might find yourself coming home early.
