what is a "3d surround sound system"? will it have better sound than a non-3d system?

i was just wondering what a 3d surround sound system is? im thinking of getting a home theater system in a box, i was wondering what the 3d surround sound system means, if it means it gives better sound, or if it just means that its compatible with the new 3d blu-ray players and such
