what kind of PC do i need to maximize 3d modeling capabilities?

I'm an architecture student looking for a computer primarily to run 3ds MAX, AutoCad and other 3d modeing programs. I have no idea what are the requirenments...I'm guessing a good graphics card and.....Yeah I don't know much about computers. Any help will be greatly appreciated
