  1. No. The 3D TV ones have internal electronics to control their shutters. Theater ones are simple polarized lenses.
  2. No the RealD 3D glasses will NOT work with any 3D TV. Why not? RealD uses opposing circular polarized lenses and TWO projectors. One projector is for your right eye and the other projector is for your left eye. Each projector also has a polarized lens that corresponds to the proper eye. Since any tv is only one light source you can't create two opposing polarized light sources. What they are doing with home 3D is using special glasses with electronic shutters synchronized to the set. The shutters allow only one eye to see the picture at a time. The set then shows the image for the right eye when the right eye shutter is open and shows the image for the left eye when the left eye shutter is open. No I haven't tried it but I looked up RealD and how it works so I know it can't work with tv.
  3. You have to have a tv that can do polarized 3d. They do have them and they put a kind of coating on the screen so all even horizontal lines have light wave 1 and all odd numbered horizontal lines have light wave 2. Then the images for each eye are sent to the right lines. Most 3d tv's are using the shutter glasses system or field sequential. For that you have to have shutter glasses that open and close which is most likely the kind of 3d your tv is set up for.
  4. There are 3 different types of 3D TVs (lenticular vieweing, passive glass systems and active glass systems) so it depends on the type of 3D technology being used which will determine what kind of glasses are required if glasses are required at all.
