Is it possible to detect down's syndrome facial features in a 3d/4d ultrasound?

Wouldn't be able to tell the difference if a fetus has down's syndrome facial features by looking at a 20 week 3d/4d ultrasound?

  1. If you are familiar with the facial features, then sure I bet you could. But if you are 20 weeks, I bet that you've already had a blood test to determine it.
  2. has your baby been confirmed as having down syndrome? you can see a clear pic of the face so i would think you could notice it
  3. i dont think u could to be honest as my friend had a downs baby, they couldnt tell if he was downs just by lookin at him even after birth they had to do tests, although u can tell he is now but he's around 6months old now
  4. Usually, an ultrasound scan done at 12 weeks, called a nuchal translucensy scan, looks for features of Down Syndrome, The nose and nuchal cord particularly are examined and can give you a percentage as to your risk of the baby having Down Syndrome. They couple this with bloodwork to get your results. If you did not have this done, ask your doctor if they can make any assessment looking at the 20-week ultrasound. Good luck!
  5. I will tell you my situation. I had all the test that were the norm for anyone, including a test for DS (not an amnio) I also had a 3d/4d ultrasound so we could get a look at our unborn child. It was a suprise when our son was born that he had DS. I wondered after, if the woman doing the 3D/4D ultra sound knew but didnt say anything (was not done at the Dr's). What will be, will be. Try not to worry. Trust me you will love your child with or without disabilities
