Where can I find a human animation modeling software for artistic purposes?

I'm sure this is a common situation--you have a pose in your head that you want to put down on paper, but it doesn't quite look right. You want to find a human model to actually enact the pose. Are there softwares or animations that will do that? Like basically a computer mannequin. Free softwares would be the best, but if they are not, that's fine too. Note that I'm NOT asking for 3D modeling softwares that actually allow me to MAKE 3D models. I want softwares that will let me change the poses of a human character.

  1. check out northlight. they have a home page, and sell books, software, ect. for artists. the one that might interest you is called virtual pose. good luck
  2. Daz 3d is free and easy to use with a lot of great tutorials on the site. and they offer free content every so often though you can also buy stuff like clothes and props but what you want can be had for free. I actually use it when I need help figuring out where arms and legs go for the more complicated poses.^^; Here's the link for the actual program. http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/studio/-/?&_m=d I believe this includes a Victoria 4 and a other few things but I'm not sure. and a link for the human models to go with it: http://www.download.com/Poser-DAZStudio-3D-Models-Pack/3000-6677_4-10579249.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10581779 Here you can download Victoria 3(Woman), Micheal 3(man, Hiro3(Younger anime type male) and Aiko3(younger anime type female. Most poser content and freebies will also work in this program. Edit: The link I gave for the models is the pc version if you need the mac version: http://www.download.com/Poser-DAZ-Studio-3D-Models-Pack/3000-2180_4-10579252.html?tag=lst-2&cdlPid=10581780
