3D - 2

Do 3d movies come out on dvd?

Public Comments

  1. So far only in anaglyph format (coloured glasses). They don't have any in shutterglasses (real 3D) yet cuz the framerate isn't supported by DVD.
  2. Yes, the older ones come out on DVD with the blue and red glasses but I'm not so sure about the newer ones i think they mostly come out on blue ray.
  3. The only 3D movies that have come out so far are the red/green or red/blue anaglyph movies (required the different colored lens glasses). When they do start coming out with 3D films for the new 3D Televisions, I doubt it would make sense to sell Standard Definition versions since no Standard Definition 3D TV's are being made. All 3D TV's are HD (High Definition). So it makes sense to only offer them on Blu Ray.
  4. The last 3d movie released on dvd in anaglyph 3d with the colored glasses was Final Destination. Any 3d movie released on dvd since that movie is not in anaglyph like Alice in Wonderland. Most likely because the newer shutter glasses 3d is now on tv's at store like best buy. Blu-ray now is releasing 3d movies in this format. Most you only get by buying a 3d tv and 3d blu-ray player combo. Cloudy with a Chance of Meat Balls is the only movie in the new blu-ray 3d that you can buy off the shelf. Best Buy has it now.
