How can I build a 3D model from old photos?
Hi; The office that I work in is getting a little curious about the history of the area; so I've been tasked with getting hold of old photos. Are there any applications out there that'll look at three (or so) photos of the same thing, and spit out a 3D object (in any form)?. Google earth would be ideal, but none of us can figure out how to do it.

- If the town has a local historical society, or at least a public library, you may be able to get some information there.
- I heard from someone once in Maya there is a 3rd party plug in that will generate buildings, but from an exact image I'm not too sure. What I would recommend, which may not be an option, is to have it done from scratch. In maya you can have all four views open and import a different image to each appropriate angle (front, side...etc) Then model it from scratch from there. I recommend this because with the generator that you're wanting, you don't always get exact results and having it custom done you know exactly what to expect. Especially if the generator gave you something not very detailed and you wanted a very complex design that you could zoom up on and see all the precise details. Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help-
- They can help you, and you main find free 3D moldels you want in their web site http://www.cadbackoffice.com
