How do i make my own CAD based software program?

I am a fashion and costume designer that would like to create my own software program that would be CAD based (or something similar) in order to create 2D patterns for garments. I want to build the software program...not the patterns. Where do I start? 1. You must be a programmer to be able to write/create such a program. One way to start quick for certain interactive software is VB.NET. I have not used it myself well enough, and so I am not sure if it will serve your particular need - but I feel it will help you - you can get more info from Microsoft's website and other similar sources. The difference in VB is that you can put ready-made "visual" buttons onto the screen with having to write a program for drawing these individual buttons. But how the work is what you have to program. If you start from scratch in C, C++ etc, you have to do a lot of hard work even in DRAWING individual buttons and screen layout. You could get some more help from sites like daniweb.com
