3D - 2

Is a 3d TV better option for my computer or a 3d graphics card to output to a regular hd TV?

Considering both the expense and quality of getting a 3d capable HD TV versus getting a 3d graphics card to a regular HD TV from my computer, which would be the best option? I'm looking to get 3D out of my PC by either getting a 3D TV or a 3D graphics card via an HD TV, which would be a better option? I'm looking for a screen of over 42 inches The computer must be connected to the TV. Mainly used for games.

  1. If you use a 3D graphics card which is genuine 3D, then you will need a 3D TV to watch it on.
  2. What do you mean get 3d. Are you wanting 3d animation or 3d with the 3d glasses called stereoscopic 3d. For stereoscopic 3d you have to have a 3d tv because it has the inputs and ability to switch between 2 movies for each eye instead of doing 1 for both eyes like normal displays.
  3. It's easy to get this confused so I'll try to explain this the best I can. Email me if it doesn't make sense. You're confusing what's been called "3D graphics" with real stereoscopic 3D. 3D graphics cards and games are 3D in the sense that the graphics exist in three dimensional space "inside" your computer screen or tv. It isn't 3D in the sense that you wear stereoscopic glasses to see the images "come out" of the screen. When games with "3D graphics" started coming out, the real stereoscopic 3D wasn't mainstream and it was easier to use the old term even though it didn't mean exactly the same thing. Now that stereoscopic 3DTVs are going mainstream, there is going to a lot of confusion about this. What all this means is that you can't output from a 3D graphics card to a regular 2D tv and see it in real stereoscopic 3D. To play your computer games in real stereoscopic 3D, you need a 3D compatible computer monitor which has 120hz inputs. I also doubt that you can nvidia's 3D computer game system outputed to a 3DTV, but I could be wrong about that.
