3D Programs to build models, objects, ect?
Hi, There are some figures and objects i just have trouble visualizing / drawing and trying to find images for. This becomes increasingly frustrating and thought a 3D modeling program could help to construct what i'm thinking of when i have no visual aid. Thanks

- Maybe something like Google Sketchup? That's free at least. Unless of course, you have a few thousand dollars laying around, 3DS Max could then be used. But, I'd stick with Sketchup. :P
- programs like photoshop should give you a 3d model.I also think flash, illustrator, and maya. They just cost money though...there are probably more but I don't know too much ..hope that helps
- Photoshop and Illustrator have limited 3D capabilities, In photoshop you can scale, rotate, light and texture models, It has a set of pre-done models and you can import pre made models but you can not detail and sculpt. Illustrator is very limited you have to be able to draw first and then it will create a simple 3D version that is not usable as a 3D object, it only appears that way. Maya. Softimage, 3D S Max are all industry standard modeling tools but they are very expensive and complex. There is Blender http://www.blender.org/ it is free and it is a good start. If you are having trouble visualizing / drawing you should get some books and practice. Try taking some courses at a community center as well. 3D programs will help you to a certain point but is you cant draw and visualize you will only go so far.
