3D - 2

Is a 1080p 120Hz DLP 3d television better than a LCD or LED?

  1. Way better than an LCD. About equal to an LED.
  2. In my experience, DLPs have an issue with viewing angle sensitivity, especially vertically. To maximize brightness, they use a special screen that directs light into a limited angle, especially in the vertical direction. Just try standing in front of a DLP and doing knee bends. You'll notice the brightness and contrst change significantly. I'm not crazy about DLPs for that reason. That said, the filter wheel in a DLP should make for a cheaper implementation of 3D, one that shouldn't need expensive active-shutter glasses, just polarized glasses. (I'm not sure if that's how they actually work, but it would make sense).
  3. DLP is a dead technology i will always pick plasma LED tv are LCD tv's just so you know the difference is the type of back lighting they use
