3D - 2

What week should you get the 4D ultrasound?

My boyfriend and I were thinking of getting a 4D ultrasound of our little boy. I'm only 21 weeks so we are going to wait a little while, but I was wondering if you've had it done, what week did you get it done, what was it like, in other words; your own experience, Thanks.

  1. my doctor charges between 150- 200 $ for the 4 d sonogram i told my husband i would rather use the money to buy our son things and just be surprised when he is born that was us personally i thought it wasnt very productive of our money . there nice and pretty but its kind of if you want to spend the money
  2. Well my daughters came a month early and i got a 4d ultrasound at 30 weeks with twins i could see both of them together and their feature are well formed so i guess that's when i recommend it
  3. In the town I live in everyone gets 4D's at 20 weeks. I had my first done at 10 weeks because I have Grave's disease. They will do another for me as we get closer to the end of my pregnancy. They are incredibly cool.
  4. I have read that they should be done between 27 to 30 weeks. I didn't have one done because I found out the sex and my husband I decided we wanted to wait to see what she looked like when she came out! Like a surprise! Here is something to think about also: In 2004, the United States Food and Drug Administration warned against the use of ultrasounds without medical need. Some studies have shown that the energy produced during ultrasounds can cause heat and vibration that may have long-term effects on children after birth. Some studies showed children who had been subjected to many ultrasounds in utero were born smaller. Some showed such children to have delayed speech. One showed damage to the DNA of cells scanned in ultrasound. If you don't need to expose your baby to any extra ultrasounds that could potentially hurt the baby why would you? The Doctors only you allow you to have so many for a reason. I think it was better to see what my daughter looked like for the first time while I held her in my arms anyway! :o)
  5. That depends on why you're having the scan.... you can have a 4D scan as early as 10 weeks, and it's called a Dating scan.... then there's Nuchal Translucency screening between 11-14 weeks, a Gender scan from 16 to 34 weeks, an Anomaly scan between 19 and 24 weeks, a Growth scan between 24 and 34 weeks, and a Presentation scan from 35 weeks to term. I had mine between 24 and 34 weeks just to make sure everything's OK, because on our health care system in the UK, if you're having a normal pregnancy the 2nd and last scan they do is at 20 weeks... and I just can't wait that long! Just wanted to make sure all was still fine and normal in there.
  6. I pln on doing the same with my seocnd and it is soo fun you will love it I was about 28-30 weeks when I went for mine and it was perfect :) Congrats and good luck!!
