How do you do a 3d reference in excel between 2 worksheets?

I need to take names from one worksheet and do a 3D reference to them on a seperate sheet. I'm not quite sure how to do that

1. In Excel help look for; Consolidate the data with 3-D references or formulas. Just reference the file, worksheet and cell in the formula, something like this; ='[filename.xls]worksheetname'!$B$2 (Answers isn't showing this string correctly... after the worksheet name, there is a ! (exclamation) before the cell reference.) It's easier to place the cursor in the cell where you want the formula, press =, then click in the other worksheet. Excel will automatically insert the values this way.
