What's a good program to learn for architectural fly through animation for building models and etc?

I'm an architect student and I want to learn a 3D Modeling program that can do Fly-Through Animations for interior ,exterior, day time ,night time of model buildings? thanks

  1. hmm.. well im aeditor but you could use like Cinema 4D or 3ds max 2010/2009 but they cost alot of money though
  2. A very good one that I use is Google Sketchup. I reccomend it

Yeah, 3DS Max/Max Design (2011 is current version which you are able to purchase for $3495 legally), or Sketchup (basic for free, or Pro for $495) would probably be the best if you're willing to make an investment. I'd also invest in some CAD software so that you can view and edit layers, details in some architectural drawings. I use ProgeCAD pro - compatible with AutoCAD, but 1/10th of the price. An alternative for free would be Blender, which works pretty good, but is in transition right now between a fairly aged interface to a newer one in Beta.
