Why do people say they like anime?
Anime just means a Japanese-style cartoon movie... they have all kinds of different plots and genres and settings... no one likes all of them. Aren't they just saying they like the way anime looks? Isn't that like saying "I love 3D movies"?

- White guys say they like anime because they have the "yellow fever" and think japanese girls dig that.
- chances are if you like anime, you have seen almost all of them.
- They like the genre of Anime. Most of it is very similar. It's just like saying you like Rock music or Horror films, They all have different plots etc but they all fit under the Anime genre.
- In my opinion its like genres of music you might say you like rock or hip hop but that doesn't necessarily mean your gonna like all the songs that an artist of that genre makes its the same with anime they like the style of it but that doesn't mean they love every single show or type of it its just what they prefer :)
- ok
- You want to see the best Anime ever? try watching "Star Blazers" the original Anime
- Okay, with anime the could be saying they like the style of art, which is a very fun and cool form of art (personal opinion) I mean they could like all forms like I do from violence, to mystery, and love. Yes I do tend to watch everything. Or they could always mean manga, the comic version of anime. And last but not least the could always be posers and acting to like anime and Japanese things to fit into the latest fads, which I personally hate. You don't know about pockys, ramiean and all that. I've been eating Japanese food since I was about 2 and I'm turning 14 in March.
- It's not always a movie... like pokemon, that's an anime, people (more like kids) who likes adventure likes to watch it. Unlike american cartoons, the story connects. It's like an animated, drawn out, more of unrealistic drama shows. Anime is the type of cartoon where the story connects, and there's more drama. The plot is usually taken from a manga, a japanese cartoon book, and just animated, that's why it's called an anime. You know, American cartoons don't connect, they would have like a 15~30 minute show, and that would be the end of that story. So, just like in books, even if they're books, yes, they have all kinds of plots and genres and settings...but, they have different kinds, as in like a poem book, or a school text book, or a normal reading book. It's not just that they like the way anime looks, they like the style too, so it's close to saying "I love 3D movies" Well, and it does matter on the person too...
