How to make a cute 3D model of the inside of a house?

I am building a 3D model of the inside of a "dream" home and I was wondering how could I make it really cute? For one I was thinking of just using a shoe box but when i tried it it looked kind of messy. Secondly I used model magic for the furniture and it works well but if anyone has suggestions that would be great! Lastly I want to little picture frames on the wall but I don't know how to "frame" them if anyone knows a little craft that would be awesome! Thank you!

1. There are a load of ways to make dioramas, including the inside of houses and the diorama containers themselves (if there are any). If you want something "less messy" than a shoebox, try something like using a flat piece as a base, with one "wall" or with 2 connected walls at the back and one side of the base. Or you could buy or make something like a box made of balsa wood or foam core (without lid).
