Blender 3D - better than 3D Studio Max and Maya?

I'm trying to decide if I should switch 3D modeling programs. I have been using Blender for over a year but I've also heard about Maya and 3D Studio Max. If you've used these programs before, how do they compare to Blender? How is the learning curve? How is the interface? etc. I want a program that is good with animation. I use Blender to create models for use within video games.

1. Look at it this way if you made a CGI film you'd be several hundred if not thousands of dollars richer than the people who bought 3D Studio Max and Maya. I think you should just stick to blender. Wouldn't it be wiser to master blender and if you still feel that 3D Studio Max and Maya might be better suited for what you want to do you could go to the website and see if they have a personal learning edition. I would never bother with complex software that didn't have a personal learning edition to get your feet wet with. Blender has a particle system and physics simulation too. Some people make Games with Blender's Game Engine and Blender has a compositing system which I as an animator find useful. I think you should just stick to blender. I'd understand you switching to the other applications if your job requires experience in one of those applications. If you are a skilled hobbyist don't waste your money.
