What 3D program is required to know to get into the visual effects industry?

There are many programs out there but what program does the film industry need their employee to know in order to be doing visual effects for them. Is it Maya, 3D max, Houdini, Blender? And what program is the best for rigging cars like the movie the Transformer

1. All softwares are good but very expensive. In the learning versions you get good effect. Only Blender is free and with all the good animation and modeling tools inside. You can try for free.
