3d model sketchup cross section best way about this? Autocad?

I want to make a cake in a shape of a car, so i thought i would get the model off the google sketchup warehouse cut it into slices maybe 5% of the models length thick, print them, laminate them and cut them out. Then using these templates I would be able to carve the car pretty accurately from a cake sponge. So here is the question, what would be the best way to get those template cut outs?! I have sketchup and AutoCAD but im not familiar with autocad that much.

  1. I think there is a sketchup plug-in called "Unfold" tool, this might be useful for you. One alternative is a program called "Pepakura designer" in which you can make a model in SU and import it there. This unique program unfolds your model allowing you to print the cut-out shapes.
