How does one discern the sampling rate of a digital video camera?
I'm looking for a way to increase the audio quality on my video camera. I have a very good digital stereo audio recorder that allows adjustable sampling settings. I'd like to have a close, if not identical, rate so it's easy to match the two when editing. There's no mention in the instructions of the sampling rate of the camera. It's a Samsung Memory Camcorder SC-MX20EL. Any suggestions, hints, or insights would be much appreciated.

- If you can import a recorded clip from the camera to your computer without modifying it, do this: once the clip is a file on your pc, right-click it and choose properties, and look through all the tabs; you might find the sampling rate listed there. Or you could open the file in the free WavePad software and it should be able to tell you.
- according to Samsung, the audio is 2 channel AAC codec. no further spec given. i am pretty sure the camera does not have audio quality settings. it is what it is. the most common sampling rate used for professional video is 48,048 Hz. this gives an even number of audio samples per video frame, this is so you don't split samples when video editing.
