Is the new 2011 iMac good for video editing and 3d programs?
I am looking at the $1,200 dollar model. The programs I will be running are Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Cinema 4D, and 3Ds Max. Specs-- 2.5GHz Intel quad i5 processor 4GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHz 500GB HD AMD Radeon 6750M with 512MB I just need to know wether or not if this will render complex After Effects videos and basic 3D renderings. Thanks a bunch. PS all of the Adobe programs are CS5

- Looks good, for after effects, I guess you might need more ram, as AE is always ram hungry. 3DS Max works on PC (Windows OS), not on Mac.
- you might need more RAM. my sister has an old iMac with 4gigs of RAM, and whenever she renders, the computer freezes up and crashes. save up and get a Mac Pro. if you have ALL those programs, you might as well treat them all to a good computer. i just got a 3.2GHz quad Xenon with 8GB of RAM, and it runs after effects just fine! :) the thing about getting a Mac Pro is you can also add more or less RAM, and you can swap out the graphics card too if you want. you can get up to 12 cores, HOWEVER the model out now is a little dated, and it does not feature the thunderbolt technology. but save up and wait until apple updates it.
