can I play 3d games and 3d movies using ATI Radeon 4870 x2?

Hello everybody. I'm planning to buy a 3D TV -Samsung PS-51D550 but before I do so, I need to make sure If I have to change my computer display card. Currently I have ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2 installed. Will it help me playing 3d games and movies on my new TV?

1. The main platform for 3D is only for nvidia cards, 9000 series and up. The only way to get 3d with an ati card now is to get an IZ3D monitor. I'd definitely go with an nvidia card over a new monitor. A 4870x2 is the equivalent of a 5870, so if you got a 560ti you'll get pretty much the same performance with much less noise, heat, and power consumption. Your next step up would be a gtx 570 which would be about 20% better than what you have now.
