Philips HTS335W Sound system with a 3d blu-ray player?
Here is my situation: I own a 5.1 surround sound system which is manufactured by Philips and of course all the speakers are connected to a Philips DVD Player. (By the way here is the model: HTS335W) and I am using this system with an LG 3D HDTV. The first question: Do I need a 3D blu-ray Player to watch? Second question: Can I use another manufacturer's player with my system? Third Question: Can I play blu-ray rips (.mkv) Last Question: Can I play .mkv files with subtitles or even subtitles on 3D half SBS files without any problems?

- To watch 3D you will need the following: 3D HDTV, 3D blu ray disc player, 3D blu ray disc movie and a 3D glasses. Your Phillips home theater in a box is not capable of playing 3D blu ray disc movies. You have to check each blu ray disc player on top or front and see what it is capable of playing. At this time there are only about 40 title of software in 3D and they are mainly animated. The cost of 3D have stopped most consumers from getting into the technology, beside having not many selection of movies. I would recommend you go online to home theater magazine and read the reviews on 3D along with each components. Panasonic is the top brand for quality and reliability. Sony is over priced and many problems. If you read yahoo questions, there are many questions regarding problem with Sony product. Hope this will help you out.
- 1. Not necessarily but 3d bluray is better. Since you only have a dvd player, you also needed a 3d dvd video. You may need to use your active 3d glasses. 2. Yes you can 3. You can if your tv has a built in media player or if you use an external source like a HD media tank(aka media player, NMT). 4. Maybe you can.
