What does a 3D ready projector need to connect to a 3D bluray player?
I want to buy a 3D projector but this "3D ready" stuff is confusing. What do I need to look for in a projector to ensure I can connect it to a 3D bluray player and play 3D movies?

- More than likely it will either be a choice of the a/v cables (yellow, red, and white) but even more likely you will be needing one HDMI cable. Much more simple and better quality audio and video. The a/v may be included in the box but the HDMI you may have to purchase separately. But overall this will be a lot more simple than you think. It really is going to be nothing more than one of the two cables mentioned above and usually this is still just the customers choice. HDMI or A/V. And 3D Ready simply means it can project any 3D input bluray, 3D dvd's even, or with the right connections you could even watch a 3D movie off the internet(maybe through your laptop using an HDMI Ethernet cable). But anyway, that's for another time. Hope this helps.
- For a projector? You still need a 3d converter box or a 3d video processor. And by the way, the 3d glasses..(duh?)
- Keep in mind to watch 3D you will need to have the following. A 3D HDTV or a projector, 3D blu ray disc player, 3D blu ray disc movie and a 3D glasses. At this time there are only about 40 titles in the market for 3D and they are mainly animated movies. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read all about the 3D technology. Hope this will help you out.
- There are three answers to this question: (1) Some 3D projectors include HDMI1.4 support (such as the Sharp XV-Z17000) - these 3D projectors can be directly connected to a Blu-ray 3D player (via a high-speed HDMI cable) to play Blu-ray 3D movies. (2) Most "3D Ready" projectors do not include HDMI1.4 support - some of these (such as the Viewsonic PJD6531W) can be used with a 3D Format Converter Box (such as the Optoma 3D-XL or the Viewsonic VP3D1) which allows a Blu-ray 3D player to be connected to the projector (via the format converter). You'll need to check the list of supported models. (3) Some "3D-Ready" projectors (usually the low-resolution models - XGA or less) won't work with a 3D Format Converter Box either. These won't meet your requirements. In short, your best path will be to find a 3D projector which includes HDMI1.4 support - it'll make things much easier. In all of these cases, you'll also need the appropriate 3D glasses to match.
