Can a red light camera catch you if the opposite lane has a green turning arrow?

My beyond stupid friend accelerated at a red light and stopped to trick me into accelerating because i was changing my car stereo at the time (we convoying it). However, the opposite side had a green turning arrow (it was late so no one was really turning, thank God). I would think the camera would mistake me for a left turner if it is motion sensor. I live in cali by the way.

1. The same thing happened to my sister inlaw and she did not receive a ticket and the camera even flashed . So i think you will be safe .
