3D - 2

What is 3D sound? Do I need it for my 3D TV?

I own a 3D TV and 3D Blu-ray player. I need to buy surround sound. Will I actually hear a difference if I buy a 3D compatible surround sound or if I buy a regular one? What is 3D Pass-Through and does it really matter when I play a 3D Blu-Ray? YOU CAN SEE THE SOUND HE SAYS HA. Honestly though, I keep getting mixed information on this, any help is greatly appreciated

  1. You can actually see the sound
  2. 3d is give you the real film effect , If you were in the film . i think .
  3. There is no such thing as 3d sound. There is surround sound and any surround system will do that(some better than others) but 3d surround is a sales gimmick. I have a 6 year old yamaha 7.1 that will do anything most will do today.
  4. To get 3d surround you have to add 2 extra speaker above your front speakers and have a 3d surround capable receiver. So that gives you 7 speakers total. It adds an extra height dimension to the sound-stage (i.e. when theres a scene with rain, the sound will actually come down on you) Another name for 3d surround is Dolby ProLogic IIz. 3d pass-thru just means that your receiver is compatible with 3d video (i.e. 3d bluray)
