How do 3D games perform on the iMac?
I'm thinking of getting an iMac with Bootcamp for dual booting Mac and Windows. I've read reviews on the iMac and most said that the mac is not really suitable for gaming and that the ratings for graphics card performance is marginally acceptable. However, there do seem to be some impressive 3D games avaliable for the mac. I play games like Silent Hill, Fifa, Need for Speed, The Settlers etc....Can iMac handle these games? Personally, I'm satisfied if the graphics arent blocky/blurred and if the game is not jerky or laggy. Super high end graphics are not a necessity for my gaming.

- None of the games you mentioned are really hardware demanding so I'm sure it can handle it. If you want to play games like F.E.A.R., Call of duty 2, or any of the next-gen-type games you might have a problem
- The answer for the games you wish to play is yes. They will run. You will notice some lag and jerking with the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory option on the new iMac. I would buy the next step up which is the ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory. This will give you better perfomance and you should be lag free. You will still have a hard time with the games that are demanding on your video card. So If you ever think you may play games that require more than 256MB of Video RAM think about a Mac Pro. (Keep in mind the upgrade options on iMac's are very limited)
