is it possible to have a 3d ultrasound without seeing the gender?
we're pregnant with our second and are debating getting a 3d ultrasound this time. we didnt with our first. we also didnt find out the gender of our first before birth by choice. we were planning on doing it with this one as well (keeping it a surprise) but can they do the 3d ultrasound without letting it slip? i figure because its so in depth and realistic it'll be difficult. my husband says if we find out by accident its ok, but im still 50/50 on it. its one of lifes last surprises! any clue?

- Don't look at the screen and tell the sonographer that you do not want to know the sex until the birth.
- Well I had the 3d ultrasound and with the baby moving so much its hard not to see the gender, if you really want to keep it a surprise you might just want to not have the ultra sound
- Yes they can do a 3D ultrasound without telling you the gender, we did. Just make sure you are quite clear with the tech that you do not want to know and they will just avoid showing that area. Congrats!
- As long as you let them know when you first go in, it's not a problem. They usually focus on the face, hands and feet mostly anyways.
- just tell them u don't want to know the sex. Tell the baby to keep it LEG CLOSE
- as long as you arent looking at the screen when they are checking that area out then you should be ok. just make sure and tell your tech you dont want to know. unless there is and unknown medical problem you shouldnt need this procedure
- If they don't ask if you want to know or not then make sure you tell them. I am sure they'll keep it a suprise for you. Don't watch the ultrasound there, but bring a video along and have them tape it. Afterwards ask them if the sex is obvious in the video. If its not then you can go home and watch it. If it is obvious then you will have the video that you can watch after the baby is born. Congratulations on your new baby on the way!
- They will be sensitive to your wishes. If you do not want to know the gender make sure to let them know... even several times ;) We had the FetalFotos thing and for us it was not that great as I don't think that she was far enough along I think I had just done my 22 week one with the doc. She was also very wiggly and it was difficult to get a good view. They are very expensive and tend to make a lot of women worry because the shots may make your beautiful baby look like an alien lol. She came out very beautiful but her 3-D looked like something out of the Abyss lol. I got some much better shots of her from the reg ultra sound. If you go in close to the end of your 3rd trimester it might be worth it. Blessings and congrats!
- Yes, it's possible. I got a 3D @ 29 weeks and WANTED them to confirm the sex. They did, of course, but if I didn't want to know, there's NO WAY I would've been able to tell. I was sitting there trying to comprehend what the tech was showing me and couldn't make it out. GOod luck to you :)
