How Do You Get a 3D Ultrasound?
I am now almost 17 weeks pregnant, and on the 25th of March I am having my first ultrasound done. How do you go about getting one done, do you ask on the day of your ultrasound, or do you have to go threw certin procedures to get one done? I have heard they cost like $200, so is there just some random place you go to, or will your doctor help you with getting it done?

- Its $200.00 here in Manitoba, you have to go to Winnipeg for it, I think you can ask your Dr/midwife about it, they will tell you the procedure. u get a DVD, and a picture and you get to know the sex of your baby.
- health cover will cover the cost an just let your doctor that you'd like one done and he should refer you to a place that does them.
- not every clinic or hospital has 3d ultrasound. you need to ask your dr about getting one or ask the place you are having you ultrasound done if they do 3d and if so do you need a dr order for the exam. i'm not sure about the cost. if you find a place that does them ask them about the price
- My doctors office didn't offer 3d or 4d so I looked on line and found a place that does 3 and 4 d ultrasound but u have to pay. My ultrasound was close to $200. It was worth it because she put it on a dvd with music for us. She told us the sex and everything! I loved it! Google it!
- i had to drive to chicago (3 hours away) and pay for it. most doctors just do 2d google 3d/4d ultasound and your city (or a large one near by) very cool experience
- 200 in louisiana too and thats just for one pic, however I got mine for free b/c I had a high risk pregnancy. They are worth it, my son came out looking exactly like the pic.
- It depends on your dr. We own a 3d/4d ultrasound studio in upstate sc, and you need proof that you are being seen by a dr. The best pictures are between 27 and 32 weeks and the experience is amazing (had them done with my daughter). We are currently running several specials at our location, but normally they cost up to $250.00.
- ultrasounds done for sheer pleasure of being able to see the baby arent covered by health insurance. there must be a medical reason for the ultrasound. 3d ultrasounds done at a 3d ultrasound clinic arent covered by health insurance so you'll be paying out of pocket. most have different packages ranging anywhere from 90.00 to 300.00. some hospitals are equipped with 3d ultrasound technology and use them for their medically nessacery ultrasounds, but a lot of them don't.
- It really depends on how good of a 3d ultrasound you want. Most doctors offices that have 3d ultrasound capability have poor image quality and resolution. The GE Voluson series are made specific to 3d and 4d (3d video) ultrasound. Since most doctor's offices don't use the Voluson line, most likely due to cost, I recommend going to an ultrasound studio. My wife and I went once a trimester, and it was pretty cool. We started a studio of our own. It's local, so I don't think this will count as a solicitation, but some picture examples can be had at www.babyface4d.net/gallery.html
