Can you please recommend a (preferably free) software for making a rough plan to remodel my house?

I want to first make a 3D model of my existing house and then find the best possible way of upgradation. P.S. - I don't care about features like the ability to plan the plumbing and electrical services. I just want to plan the structural part of the building.

1. I have used "3D Home Architect". It's not perfect but it's only about $30. I have an older version from about 4 years ago.
2. http://www.sketchup.com/ this is a great 3D program, and it's free (not the pro version, but the free version is all i needed to design my current add-on). download it, and mess around with it. it's very user friendly.
