Is there any software to convert 2D images into 3D models?

I have some images of people, mostly my friends that I want to turn into 3D models for use in modelling suites (Blender, 3ds Max, etc.). Is there any software available that can do this? I would prefer it be completely free, but a free 30-day trial is fine.

1. matlab, look at the .edu sites. Education and Learning are still available, even with Intellectual Property! ¿
2. try demo of imodeller..
3. try using the images as textures in 3D Studio Max. That should resolve your problem... although you will have to make a 3d man model, on which you use these textures.
