Question about blender 3d.?

So i'm a downloaded blender version 2.45 and i was thinking if it would actually take me anywhere. What i mean by that is that if i learn how to create awsome characters, which i know will take a long time, would i gain any skills in 3d modeling? i have a mac comp and it has 233GB, so can i create good anymations here? how long? what about games? What would you rate blender from 1-100 with 1 being the best?

1. if you're in doubt, check out the forum galleries at elysiun.com yes, you can create standalone games in blender (just learn some python for scripting purposes) or create game content for some games like NWN, for example. i'd give it a 10... it's good, but it can be intimidating for newbies...
