- i don't know much about those two but i can also suggest Cinema 4D. Blender supposedly has a tough learning curve. That's all I know about it other than it's free. An incredibly easy but very limited software for 3D that is free is Google Sketchup. I recommend it for quickly building simpler things that won't move.
- people think that blender has a tough learning curve because its interface is radically different form most other commercial apps...and they dont know where to look for help.. i would suggest you use blender as it is "FREE OF COST" and so you wont have any sort of licensing issues it also supports import and export to a lot of other formats...so using it along with other softwares also shouldnt be much of a problem. you can begin learning blender from here: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro this series of tutorials is quite good and should be enough for you blender is capable enough of producing excellent results.....rest depends on how talanted you yourself are.... and in case you need help, you can join the blender community...members there are very helpfull http://blenderartists.org i hope my answer is satisfactory enough
